A perk of Mike's ten week Army course was that I was able to join him for a long weekend and head to New York City. It was a first for both of us and we had an awesome weekend. I flew to Pennsylvania and Mike picked me up at the airport. We boarded a train and headed to the city. It was a nice relaxing train ride. I left all the planning of the weekend up to Mike and he did an awesome job. We visited the Empire State Building, The World Trade Center Museum Workshop, Ground Zero, Times Square, Central Park, Mary Poppins on Broadway, and last but not least the Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island. The weather was perfect and Mike and I were able to celebrate the selling of our house. We will for sure make another trip to NYC. We would like to take the girls when they get a little older. Here are a bunch of our pictures. As you can see we had so much fun!
Waiting for out train to arrive!
Dinner our first night in NYC.
We went to the Empire State Building at night. Seeing the city lit up at night was very cool.
Mike at the top of the Empire State Building.
Our hotel was really close to the Empire State Building so it was a quick walk over to see it.
The Ground Zero Museum Workshop was so moving. A must visit if you go to NYC.
This clock was found in the basement of the WTC. It is the exact time that the plane hit.
Mike getting ready for our first subway ride.
St. Paul's Chapel is where all the 9/11 recovery workers would take their breaks.

The pews were all marked up from the tools that the recovery workers wore on their uniform.
If you look close you can see the Statue of Liberty in the pic.
My favorite store on Times Square.

Our hotel was so nice and Mike found a great deal on Priceline.
On the ferry headed out to see Lady Liberty.
After Lady Liberty we visited Ellis Island.
I was able to find my Grandpa Render's parents and my Grandma Fowler's Dad in the records at Ellis Island. It was very moving.
The day I came home we visited Hershey, PA. We toured the museum and had lunch. Such a fun way to end our weekend! The street lamps are Hershey Kisses!!
