It has been a very exciting last few days at the Heuer house. The girls and I picked up Mike on Thursday night. His flight got in an hour early which stressed me out a little. Luckily, the Family Readiness Group had told us to arrive an hour early so we made it just in time to see Mike's plane pull up and see him get off the plane. What an AMAZING moment. It was one I had looked forward to for a whole year. I had a hard time pulling our girls away to give Mike a hug. They would not let go of him. They were so happy to see Daddy. Mike's entire unit made it home safe. There was one solider who was injured but he is expected to make a full recovery. We had almost 30 people show up to welcome Mike. We really appreciated all the love and support from our family and friends. You are all the best and we don't know how we would have survived this past year without all of you.
We made the cover of the Peoria Journal Star on Friday morning and also the WMBD news on both Thursday and Sunday evening. Mike is home, life can get back to normal. Having him home his such an answer to prayer. I'm so proud of my husband and our family for surviving this deployment. We made the best of it and our marriage and family are stronger for it.
The outside of our house was decorated to Welcome Home Mike! These banners were actually free. I just had to pay for shipping!
Grace and Sydney waiting for the plane to arrive. Aren't their signs cute? Aunt Nancy made them for us and Grace and Sydney decorated them!
Gracie was the first one to get a hug!

When we got home we surprised Mike with a shadow box that had all of his Toby Keith memorabilia. He loved it!
Mike brought me home gemstones. There are two of each of our birthstones. He is gone to have a piece of jewelry made for me and the girls!
